Written November 4th, 2008
To Our Loyal Readers,
Whatever the outcome may be, tomorrow will be one of the most complicated, interesting, and earth shatteringly important days in American history. We’ve got a truly historic election on our hands. The intensity, from the relentless attacks and mudslinging, to the unprecedented youth involvement, the 2008 election has come to embody, is an intensity we here at The Purple Youth hope to carry on to you.
Regardless of one’s political persuasion, we can agree that our nation is at a crossroads, a very complex and dangerous crossroads at that. When November 5th comes around, America will have left that crossroad and we will start down a new path. If this new path will be for better or for worse remains to be seen.
The reason I started this website was to realize the potential every individual in this country has. No matter one’s race, color, or age we all have the right, and in my opinion, the responsibility, to say whatever we want, and to have as many people as possible agree or disagree with what we have to say. You can throw around cliches all you want, but when it comes down to it, America is all about dialogue. The dialogue can become ugly, it can become vile, it can even become untruthful, but most importantly it is allowed. Tomorrow is the manifestation of that tremendous right and responsibility every American has, or on their 18th birthday will receive. It was in this spirit that The Purple Youth was created, and it is in this spirit that The Purple Youth will bring you the very highest level of political analysis and coverage tomorrow.
We hope that it is in this spirit that every one of you will think about what we have to say, think about what you have to say, and most importantly, remember that we’re both allowed to say it.
It’s been a great few months, we hope to see you all around the site in the coming hours, days, months, and who knows, maybe even years.
Yours Truly,
(A First time voter) Gabriel Rom
